This week I have interviewed my friend Lesley, who runs a fashion blog called RAW Vogue. In the few short months Raw Vogue has been up and running, the site has reached over 1,000 views a day, with no major advertising! You definitely need to watch out for this up and coming fashion mogul.
Here’s what she had to say:
Me: So Lesley, what does Raw Vogue stand for?
Lesley: Raw Vogue stands for Real Affordable and Wearable clothing. The blog is for everyday people, styling themselves with a mix of reasonably priced and splurge items. Essentially, it is meant to show runway worthy style that is ready to wear.
Me: How would you describe your personal style?
Lesley: My personal style definitely changes on a day to day basis. It really depends on how I am feeling. Usually I go for a classy look that is modern, but some days I may be feeling a little edgy, so I tend to mix it up.
Me: What are three staples every woman should have in their wardrobe?
Lesley: First off, a really good blouse is key, specifically in white with a big collar, which is good for layering underneath a sweater. Another staple would be a leather jacket, it’s good for keeping warm and also looking pretty cool. And finally, I would say a cute pair of black little booties. Especially if it has a cool detail on them, or a nice heel to give some height.
Me: Are there any fashion rules one should follow when getting dressed?
Lesley: I don’t really have any fashion rules when I put together an outfit. I think it’s all about creativity and expressing how you feel that day. I suggest just picking one piece of clothing, and working your outfit around that one piece.
Me: How do you find fashion inspiration?
Lesley: I think just walking up and down the street is a great way to find inspiration. There are so many types of people just walking around, so it’s cool to see what everyone else is wearing. You can definitely find a bit of inspiration in each outfit someone is wearing.
Me: Do you have any tips for someone wanting to start a fashion blog?
Lesley: If you want to start a fashion blog, you want to make sure you have a solid idea. It’s also a good idea to have a lot of content beforehand because you want to be able to give your readers tons of posts within the first few weeks in order to gain followers.
Me: Thank you so much for all of your tips and advice!
